Abstract:
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) proposes to update and clarify existing part 50 of title 30 of the Code of Federal Regulations concerning accidents, injuries, illnesses, employment and production in mines to, among other things: revise the definition of occupational illness/injury to include work-related; review accidents that need to be reported within 15 minutes (the current list includes 12 types of accidents, and may be overly broad); accommodate electronic reporting and recordkeeping; and reduce recordkeeping and reporting burdens, to the extent feasible.
