Title: Merchandise Produced by Convict or Forced Labor or Indentured Labor Under Penal Sanctions | |
Abstract:
This document proposes amendments to title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations to update, modernize and streamline the process for enforcing the prohibition in 19 U.S.C. 1307 against the importation of merchandise that has been mined, produced, or manufactured, wholly or in part, in any foreign country by convict or forced labor, or indentured labor under penal sanctions. The proposed amendments would generally bring the forced labor regulations and detention procedures into alignment with other statutes, regulations and procedures that apply to the enforcement of restrictions against other types of prohibited merchandise. |
