Abstract:
This rule proposes to add new requirements for the installation and location of carbon monoxide detectors in certain HUD-assisted and HUD-insured housing in order to provide early warning alerts to occupants of the presence of carbon monoxide in the living space of the home. The rule proposes that the carbon monoxide detector meet, and be installed consistent with, standards published by the International Fire Code (IFC). In this regard, the rule will propose that detectors be battery-powered or hard-wired with a battery backup. |
