Title: Fisheries Off West Coast States; West Coast Salmon Fisheries; Federal Salmon Regulations for Overfished Species Rebuilding Plans | |
Abstract:
This action would end the rebuilding plan for the Sacramento River fall-run Chinook salmon stock (SRFC), currently in regulation. In November 2020, NMFS published a final rule implementing a rebuilding plan for SRFC, which had been determined by NMFS in 2018 to be overfished under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (MSA). Based on the most recent assessment of SRFC, completed in February 2021, the stock is no longer overfished and NMFS is in the process of making a status determination of rebuilt under the MSA. This action is not expected to have economic impacts as the rebuilding plan adopted the Fishery Management Plan’s existing harvest control rule and management measures. |
