Title: Test Procedure for Dedicated-Purpose Pool Pump Motors | |
Abstract:
On September 11, 2018, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) published a notification of petition from a variety of entities (collectively, the Joint Stakeholders or the Petitioners) asking DOE to issue a direct final rule for energy conservation standards for dedicated-purpose pool pump (DPPP) motors. On February 5, 2019, the petitioners amended their petition to request that DOE issue a direct final rule establishing labeling requirements for DPPP motors instead of energy conservation standards. Based on the review of public comments and data received in response to this petition, DOE responded to that petition by issuing a notice of proposed rulemaking proposing to establish a test procedure and a labeling requirement for dedicated purpose pool pump motors. On July 29, 2021, DOE issued a final rule incorporating by reference an industry standard pertaining to DPPP definitions, and requiring the use of an industry testing standard for testing the energy efficiency of DPPP motors. The final rule did not establish a labeling requirement. |
