Title: Extending the Duration of the AP1000 Design Certification [NRC-2020-0269] | |
Abstract:
This rulemaking would amend the NRC’s regulations that govern the duration of the AP1000 design certification (DC) by adding 5 years to the period that the DC is valid for reference by an applicant. This revision would align with the 5-year extension to the time period during which an applicant could submit a renewal application for the AP1000 DC previously granted by the NRC staff. The rule would allow a future applicant to continue to reference the AP1000 DC while the NRC considers the broader issue of DC durations in a separate, ongoing rulemaking. |
