Title: Proposed Amendments to the National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances per October 2020 and April 2021 NOSB Recommendations (AMS-NOP-21-0060) | |
Abstract:
The National List identifies the synthetic substance allowances and the nonsynthetic substance prohibitions in organic crop and livestock production. It also identifies the nonorganic substances that may be used in or on processed organic products. The two amendments in this proposed rule were submitted to the USDA by the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB). If finalized, the rule would allow organic crop producers to use paper-based crop planting aids (including paper pots) as an additional tool on organic farms. It would also allow organic handlers to use low-acyl gellan gum (a gelling agent) in organic processed products. |
