Abstract:

CPSC is aware of fatal and nonfatal incidents involving children ingesting button and coin batteries. Staff is preparing a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) briefing package for Commission consideration in fiscal year 2022. The draft NPRM will address hazards associated with children accessing and ingesting button and coin batteries from the original packaging of the batteries and with their use in certain consumer products.
