Title: Establishing Permanent Electronic Filing For Patent Term Extension Applications | |
Abstract:
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO or Office) is amending the Rules of Practice in Patent Cases to require patent term extension (PTE) applications and all related follow-on documents to be submitted electronically by way of the Office electronic filing system. The proposed rule would reduce administrative burden on PTE applicants. It also would further advance the USPTO’s IT strategy to achieve complete end-to-end electronic processing of patent-related submissions, thereby improving administrative efficiency by facilitating electronic file management, optimizing workflow processes, and reducing processing errors. |
