DOL/MSHA RIN: 1219-AB96 Publication ID: Fall 2022
Title: ●Alternatives to Petitions for Modification: Oil and Gas Wells
Abstract:

The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) proposes to establish safety requirements for mining activities around plugged or inactive oil or gas wells. Under current standards, mine operators are required to file a petition and seek MSHA’s approval for such mining activities to ensure the safety and health of miners. The proposed rule would streamline the approval process and update the existing standards to reflect technological advances, while maintaining mine safety.
