Title: Pesticides; Expansion of Crop Grouping Program
Abstract: In phases, EPA is revising the pesticide crop grouping regulations to create new crop groupings, add new subgroups, and expand existing crop groups by adding new commodities. The current crop groupings allow EPA to establish pesticide tolerances for multiple related crops based upon data for a representative set of crops. EPA expects these revisions to promote greater use of crop grouping for tolerance-setting purposes and to facilitate the availability of pesticides for minor crop uses. Most recently, EPA finalized the sixth rulemaking in the series, which codified amendments to Crop Group 6: Legume Vegetables; Crop Group 7: Foliage of Legume Vegetables; Crop Group 15: Cereal Grains; and Crop Group 16: Forage, Fodder and Straw of Cereal Grains; along with amendments to the associated commodity definitions. EPA is currently developing the proposed seventh rulemaking in the series of planned crop group updates expected to be prepared over the next several years.
