USDA/FSIS RIN: 0583-AD98 Publication ID: Fall 2023
Title: ●Clarifying Time Limits for Waivers From FSIS Regulatory Requirements for Meat, Poultry, and Egg Products
Abstract:

FSIS is proposing to amend its regulations at 9 CFR parts 303, 381, and 590 to specify that if data generated under waivers from any provisions of the regulations support regulatory changes, the waivers will be in effect until the rulemaking process is complete and the new regulatory requirements take effect. If the data generated do not support regulatory changes, the waivers will be terminated. Currently, the waiver authorization regulations provide for FSIS to waive regulatory requirements for limited periods but do not specify the time for which a waiver may remain in place after it has been granted.
