Title: ●Fisheries Off West Coast States; West Coast Salmon Fisheries; Federal Salmon Regulations for Overfished Species Rebuilding Plans
Abstract:

This action would remove the rebuilding plan for the Snohomish River coho salmon stock currently in regulation. In February 2021, NMFS published a final rule implementing a rebuilding plan for Snohomish River coho salmon, which had been determined by NMFS in 2018 to be overfished under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation Act (MSA). Based on the most recent assessment of Snohomish River coho salmon, completed in February 2023, the stock is no longer overfished and NMFS is in the process of making a status determination of rebuilt under the MSA. This action is not expected to have economic impacts as the rebuilding plan adopted the Fishery Management Plan’s existing harvest control rule and management measures.
