Title: ●Indiana Dunes National Park; Bicycling | |
Abstract:
This rule would amend the special regulations for Indiana Dunes National Park to allow bicycle use on approximately 21.7 miles of multi-use trails. The rule also would update the title of the section containing the special regulations to reflect the change in status from a National Lakeshore to a National Park. This action will increase connectivity for the public and provide alternative transportation options to, from, and through the park. This will help reduce traffic and crowding on other trails and roads. This proposed rule would be informed by civic engagement and public participation opportunities throughout the park planning process. Indiana Dunes National Park is in northern Indiana along the southern shore of Lake Michigan, between Gary and Michigan City, Indiana, approximately 50 miles southeast of Chicago |
