Title: Energy Conservation Standards for Distribution Transformers | |
Abstract:
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has initiated a rulemaking to consider whether to amend energy conservation standards for distribution transformers and determine whether changes to market conditions for steel and liquid immersed distribution transformers, particularly the supply chain for amorphous steel, justify amending the energy conservation standards for transformers that DOE adopted in April 2013. DOE has published a notice of proposed rulemaking proposing amended energy conservation standards for distribution transformers. The proposed amended standards for certain transformers are primarily achievable by using amorphous steel. DOE has tentatively determined that the proposed emended standards, which are more stringent than those currently in place, would result in a significant amount of energy savings and would be technologically feasible and economically justified. |
