Title: Possible Revocation or Amendment of Standard for the Flammability of Mattresses and Mattress Pads (Cigarette Ignition) | |
Abstract:
The Commission published an advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) in the Federal Register on June 23, 2005, requesting comments on a rulemaking proceeding that could result in the revocation or amendment of its existing flammability standard, including a test for cigarette ignition of mattresses and mattress pads (16 CFR 1632). In June 2021, the Commission revised the standard reference material (SRM) used for testing under 16 CFR 1632. Staff will continue to consider other amendments to the standard to update record keeping and ticking substitution requirements, and will conduct data analysis and technical review in fiscal year 2023. |
