Title: Federal Employee Health Benefits Program: Effective Date of Coverage | |
Abstract:
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) proposes to modify its Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) enrollment regulations regarding the effective date of coverage. The regulatory changes would allow FEHB coverage to become effective upon an employee’s initial opportunity to enroll, when a properly completed enrollment request is submitted within the pay period that the employee becomes eligible. The regulatory changes would promote the Federal government as a model employer. OPM held stakeholder meetings with agencies and non-governmental entities including Tribal Benefits Officers and FEHB Carriers to solicit feedback on the implications and operational aspects of proposed changes in the rule. |
