Abstract:
THIS FORM IS USED TO COLLECT PERTINENT INFORMATION FROM PARTICIPATING NDSL INSTITUTIONS ON DEFAULTED STUDENT LOAN ACCOUNTS. THE ED FORM 553 SERVES AS THE TRANSMITTAL DOCUMENT IN THE ASSIGNMENT OF DEFAULTED STUDENT LOANS TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR COLLECTION.
