Approved pursuant to Section 3504(h) of the Paperwork Reduction Act. One hour of burden is assigned at this time, since the changes resulti from this action will not become effective until publication of final regulations for this program. Prior to publication of the final rule and submission of the revised burden estimate, DOL shall: 1) consult with interested parties and the public on the burden estimates that DO submitted as part of this paperwork; and 2) examine how respondent burden can be minimized through further revisions to the threshold ceiling for the simplified report form (LM-3).

THE LMRDA REQUIRES UNIONS TO FILE ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORTS, TRUSTEESHI REPORTS, COPIES OF THEIR CONSTITUTION AND BY LAWS. UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES, REPORTS ARE REQUIRED OF UNION OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES, EMPLOYERS, LABOR CONSULTANTS, AND SURETY COMPANIES. FILERS ARE REQUIR TO RETAIN SUPPORTING RECORDS 5 YEARS. UNIONS ARE REQUIRED TO RETAIN ELECTION RECORDS 1 YEAR.
