Approved on the condition, agreed to by ED per 9/24/93 phone call, tha ED work to develop uniform due dates and streamlined reporting during the next reauthorization of this program, consulting State respondents to the Part H forms as appropriate. ED shall also work to improve Sta capacity to provide the statutorily mandated information on numbers of infants and toddlers with disabilities awaiting early intervention services, since current reporting of this information is of inconsiste quality; this activity shall commence as soon as possible. -- ED has agreed to revise Table 2, Row 1 instructions on p. 3, so tha "assists" reads "assist." -- Last, ED has agreed to revise instructions for Row 1, Section A of Table 1, to indicate that States should only report children receiving Chapter 1 services who are eligible for Part H services; this will eliminate the duplication between this form and the Chapter 1 form.

THIS PACKAGE PROVIDES INSTRUCTIONS AND FORMS FOR STATES TO REPORT THE NUMBER OF HANDICAPPED INFANTS AND TODDLERS RECEIVING EARLY INTERVENTIO SERVICES AND SERVES AS THE BASIS FOR DISTRIBUTING FEDERAL ASSISTANCE, MONITORING, IMPLEMENTING FEDERAL PROGRAMS, AND REPORTING TO CONGRESS.
