OMB approves this and all other MSHA paperwork packages with the requirement that the agency review and determine whether its burden estimates -- including number of respondents, total annual responses, and burden hours -- reflect the most current data. MSHA will complete its comprehensive review by March 1996, submitting the results and the corrections, if necessary, on an as-completed basis. In addition, OMB approves the package contingent upon the changes described in the correspondence of September 28, 1995.

Abstract:
MSHA is responsible for inspection, testing, approval and cert- ification, and quality control of mine equipment and components, material, instruments, and explosive used by the mining industry. Title 30 CFR Parts 11 through 36 contain procedures by which manufacturers may apply for, the have equipment approved as permissible for use in mines.
