NCIPC’s NVDRS program will collaborate with NCHS’ NCVS to share knowledge and optimize investments designed to increase the quality and timeliness of State reporting of death data to CDC. NCIPC and NCHS should report progress on this collaboration, and milestones for future collaboration to OMB within three months.

The National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS) is being revised to provide coverage across all U.S. states, territories, and the District of Columbia. The NVDRS surveillance system captures case record information held by medical examiners/coroners, vital statistics (death certificates), and law enforcement, including crime labs.
