Short Statement:
There is an increase in respondent total and burden hour due to the fact that the Debt Management Center continues to experience a surge in compensation and pension debts as well as education debts. It is believed the increase in compensation and pension debts is attributable to the focus on improper payments within the Veterans Benefits Administration as well as maintenance processing on established claims.

On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding the proposed collection of information, that the certification covers:
