Abstract:
The collections of information required from employers by OSHA are necessary to determine compliance with requirements that are intended to reduce employee injuries and fatalities associated with cargo lifting gear, transfer of vehicular cargo manual cargo handling, and exposure to hazardous atmospheres.

Short Statement:
OSHA is requesting an adjustment decrease in the number of burden hours from 57,797 hours to 55,030 hours, a difference of 2,767 hours. This adjustment is attributed to a change in the number of establishments engaged in longshoring and port and harbor operations. The number of longshoring operations decreased from 916 to 830 establishments, while the number of port and harbor operations increased from 332 to 350 establishments.
