Abstract:
The FAA collects airport and aeronautical data about the physical airport infrastructure, its operations, and its use through the Airport Data and Information Portal (ADIP). ADIP is the agency’s authoritative source for the collection of airport data and information used to process airport actions, studies, and analyses and for use when considering funding requests. The collected data is safety critical and used by the FAA, the civil and military aviation community, private industry, state agencies (for use in state airport directories, aeronautical publications, and system planning) and other government agencies such as the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). ADIP includes six modules: Registration, Airport Master Record, Airports Geographic Information System, Modification of Standards, Runway Airspace Management, and Runway Safety Area Inventory.

Short Statement:
Originally, this collection only covered Airport Master Record data, but we are revising it to include a number of interrelated collections of airport data that will occur within the same system, ADIP. This change will allow airports to manage their own data within the system, encourage more private airports to participate, and allow more efficient processing of the data by the FAA. Because this system will encompass more types of data, the total number of respondents, the burden and cost of the collection to respondents, and the cost to the Federal Government will increase.
Annual Cost to Federal Government:
$4,060,036
