Abstract:
The collections of information required from employers by OSHA are necessary to determine compliance with requirements that are intended to reduce employee injuries and fatalities associated with cargo lifting gear, transfer of vehicular cargo manual cargo handling, and exposure to hazardous atmospheres.

Short Statement:
OSHA is requesting an adjustment decrease in the number of burden hours from 55,030 hours to 50,421 hours, a difference of 4,609 hours. This adjustment is attributed to a change in the number of establishments engaged in longshoring and port and harbor operations. The number of longshoring operations decreased from 830 to 746 establishments, and the number of port and harbor operations decreased from 350 to 329 establishments.
