Abstract: The U.S. Department of Education (the Department) requests revision to the currently approved information collection OMB No. 1810-0662. This collection of information is necessary to collect information under Title I, Part C of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended (ESEA). Program regulations are in 34 CFR 200.81-200.89. This information collection covers regulations with information collection requirements. These requirements pertain to information that State educational agencies must collect in order to properly administer the Title I, Part C program.

Short Statement: One change was made at the agency’s discretion. We are removing the child “sex” field from the collection. This information is not needed for programmatic purposes. That change will not change the burden estimate. Changes made in the agency’s estimate are due to an increase in total nationwide count of eligible migratory children, which has been adjusted to reflect verified numbers from the 2023-2024 reporting period. Based on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics tables, the estimated average wage for SEA staff carrying out analysis and reporting in 34 CFR §§200.83, 200.84, 200.88, and 200.89(d), and carrying out interviews in 34 CFR §§200.89(b), increased from $25 to $26. The estimated average wage for SEA staff carrying out interviews in 34 CFR §§200.89(c) and 200.89(b) increased from $10 to $15. Burden estimates were partially offset by a decrease in the number of SEA respondents from 46 to 45, and the decrease in the number of respondents for 34 CFR §200.89(b)(1).
